This Privacy Policy explains how SolarCalculatorHQ ("we", "us", "the site") collects, uses, and discloses information when you visit solarcalculatorhq.com. By using the site you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Information we collect

The site collects two categories of information.

1. Information you actively provide

We do not require accounts or signups. The only personal data you actively provide is what you choose to send via email or our contact form (your email address and the contents of your message). We use this only to reply.

2. Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our hosting provider and analytics tools automatically log:

• IP address (typically truncated for privacy)
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Pages visited, time on page, referring URL
• Approximate geographic location (country/region only)

Calculator inputs (such as latitude or wire length you enter into a calculator) are processed entirely in your browser. They are not sent to our servers.

Country selection for regional offers

Where a page has approved regional offers, we use the approximate country supplied by Vercel, our hosting provider, to suggest an offer country. The country-selection code uses only the country code: it does not read, store or forward your full IP address, and does not contact an external location lookup service. Normal hosting requests and security logs remain separate.

You can change the offer country if the suggestion is wrong or your project is elsewhere. This choice stays in the current page's memory; it is not saved in cookies or local storage. It does not change the calculator's assumptions or page language. Country detection is approximate and does not establish delivery or service eligibility.

We do not send calculator inputs with the country request or add country selections to our analytics. If you follow a partner link, the destination's own privacy and tracking practices apply.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses cookies and similar technologies (web beacons, local storage) for the following purposes:

• Essential: required for the site to function (e.g. remembering whether you've dismissed a notice)
• Analytics: to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it
• Advertising: third-party advertising partners (see below) may set cookies to serve relevant ads and measure their effectiveness

Hosting and security logs follow our hosting provider's retention settings. Vercel Web Analytics has a one-month reporting window on our current plan; this reporting limit is not a separate guarantee about the provider's deletion schedule. Email correspondence is retained as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping.
