Open Data
We publish the underlying datasets behind SolarCalculatorHQ as openly licensed CSVs so researchers, journalists, and other calculator builders can use them without paying for industry reports.
Methodology
Each row points back to a primary public source — government agencies (NREL, DOE, ADEME, IDAE, ANEEL), industry associations (SEIA, Solar Energy UK, Clean Energy Council, ABSOLAR, Solarwirtschaft), and marketplace data (EnergySage, SunWiz). We compile and normalise the figures; we do not generate synthetic data.
Cost figures are stated in local currency for the relevant market — never USD-converted, since exchange-rate noise distorts cross-market comparison. Tilt-angle data is derived from the NREL PVWatts engineering rules used as the photovoltaic industry standard for residential array design.

Datasets
Solar installation costs by locale (per watt, 2026)
Low / mid / high installed cost-per-watt ranges across 10 markets in local currency. Sourced from EnergySage (US), Solar Energy UK, SunWiz (AU), NRCan (CA), Solarwirtschaft (DE), ADEME (FR), IDAE (ES), GSE (IT), Holland Solar (NL), and ABSOLAR (BR).
Optimal solar panel tilt angles by latitude
Year-round, summer, and winter tilt angles in degrees from 0° to 65° latitude. Derived from NREL PVWatts default rules-of-thumb used in residential solar engineering.
Solar tax incentives and rebates by locale (2026)
Active federal and national-level residential solar incentives across 10 markets. Includes the US 30% ITC, UK 0% VAT, Australian STC + Cheaper Home Batteries, German KfW 270, French MaPrimeRénov, Italian Bonus Ristrutturazione, and others.

Updates
Cost data is refreshed quarterly as new market reports are published.
Incentive data is updated whenever a federal or national programme launches,
changes, or sunsets. The last_updated column on each row records
the verification date.
